Leading the Operations Strategy and Decision-Making in Logistics

Integral logistics allows for the optimisation of new processes, which increases service quality and reduces costs. In order to do this, you will strategise multiple operational aspects to integrally consider the supply chain within the strategy of the company.

In this module you will deal with terms such as “Inputs” to define the operations strategy and its relation with the rest of the functional areas and competitive priorities. You will also learn to take suitable strategic decisions regarding operations: decisions on hardware structure and software infrastructure. You will monitor the operations strategy: BSC (Balanced Scorecard), CSF (Critical Success Factors) and you will become aware of the most common errors that need to be avoided.


Effectively Planning and Managing Demand

Correct planning for demand allows for the rationing of resources and optimisation of linked costs, from the acquisition of raw materials to the delivery of the final service or products. However, this evidence may lead to expense reduction policies that, at the same time, imply a self-limitation to our business capacity.

Therefore, this module introduces us to the basic concepts of “Demand Modelling”: classification of the criteria of demand, demand forecast, quality contrasting of forecasts (forecast accuracy), updating of models and follow-up of forecast exceptions. You will also deal with the “Demand Planning” concept: exogenous and endogenous variables, and collaborative forecasting. You will learn how to integrate with other areas of the company, to analyse the most demanded requirements and study the offer-demand applications.

Purchase management and supply logistics is becoming an increasingly specialised sector on which good corporate results are dependent. Logistics is, above all, a service aimed at satisfying the needs of customers, whenever and however they need. A good service comes from our capacity to meet commitments in terms of time, place, method and quantity.

Final Project: Management Project for the Supply Chain

The programme converges in a final project related to the management of the Supply Chain. It can be an improvement project, an innovation project or a management project that provides solutions to existing problems.

The people who pass the programme evaluation and comply with the academic requirements, established by the University of Barcelona (UB), will receive a UB qualification.

In order to obtain a UB qualification, you need to have a University Degree (Engineer’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree for four years or Bachelor’s Degree for three years).
